. In my organization in the biotechnology industry, there is the presence of Dell laptops with external hard disks provided to every employee. This is because any system crash of the software of the laptop or any other issues like virus/malware attacks can erase all stored data in the hard-disks. The system files can become corrupt in such situations. The updated data stored in the laptops are regularly copied and restored in the external hard-disks to keep backup of work and information.
